Ileia Prefecture was hardest hit on both the level of human losses as well as on the level of natural and material damages. This, combined with the fact the Latsis Family is originally from Ileia, prompted a series of initiatives, which directly or indirectly benefit Ileia Prefecture and its inhabitants. With activities related to education, culture, social welfare and religious faith, as well as with interventions of a more limited scope, the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation has a long tradition of giving that has transformed Ileia Prefecture.
