Due to the need for a comprehensive plan to ensure the long-term development of the fire-stricken regions and the organized protection of our forests, we decided to fund two important initiatives:

(a) of the Ministry of Rural Development and Food and the Agricultural University of Athens, and
(b) of WWF-Greece.

At the same time, and seeking to promote the viable development of the fire-stricken regions, the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and Eurobank EFG are financing targeted projects on the local self-government level, while substantial funds from the total programme have already been set aside for reforestation projects. To date, Ancient Olympia has been a significant beneficiary of this assistance.
