Fire Fighters Relief Fund

The John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and Eurobank EFG, recognizing the self-sacrifice of the Greek fire-fighters (permanent, seasonal, and volunteer) and Air Force pilots, who lost their lives or suffered permanent full incapacity in excess of 67% in the line of duty, will proceed to fund a special Fire-Fighters’ Assistance Programme to provide financial support to fire-fighter families, spouses and/or children.

Financial Assistance Beneficiaries

Financial Assistance beneficiaries will be, in the case of the death of the Fire-Fighter or Pilot, the spouse or underage children, and in the case of permanent full incapacity, the fire-fighters or pilots themselves, as well as their underage children.

Beneficiaries will receive:

One-Time Financial Assistance

The sum of €50,000 will be disbursed if the family of the Fire-Fighter or Pilot consists of a spouse and underage children, or if the Fire-Fighter or Pilot who has suffered permanent full incapacity is unmarried, while the sum of €30,000 will be disbursed if the family of the Fire-Fighter or Pilot consists of a spouse only.

Annual Financial Assistance

In the case where the Fire-Fighter or Pilot has underage children, the sum of € 5,000 per child will be disbursed annually and for a period of five (5) years from the year the incident, which led to death or Permanent Full Incapacity, took place. In the case where the child comes of age before the previously mentioned five (5) years have elapsed, the Annual Financial Assistance disbursement will cease upon the year following the year the child comes of age.

The Programme will retroactively cover all incidents, which occurred during the year 2007, and every future incident that follows.

The Hellenic Fire Brigade Headquarters has undertaken to carry out this Programme in association with the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and Eurobank EFG.
